Corporate social responsibility CSR Policy
Global Network Solution
In addition to GNS’s vision to become one of the leading hosting companies in the Nordic market, GNS also strives to create a better society by reducing its environmental impact and taking responsibility for the community.
Our Operations
GNS helps customers streamline communication through effective digital means, thereby reducing environmental impact associated with in-person meetings. GNS consultants primarily work through remote control, meaning our consultants do not always meet clients in person. This method is more efficient and reduces emissions.
GNS Environmental Policy
Green Energy
GNS operations use large amounts of energy for daily work. To reduce the environmental impact, our data centers use Green Energy. This means that all equipment stored in our data centers is powered by Green Energy.
GNS replaces or complements active cooling equipment with free cooling. Free cooling is a method that leverages temperature differences and uses a low-frequency fan to create airflow that cools the room and equipment. This method leads to significantly lower electricity consumption.
GNS is also in discussions with the property management to implement Green Energy in the building and other measures to reduce negative environmental impact.
Computer Usage
GNS has a policy to set all computers to sleep mode after 15 seconds. This is GNS’s effort to reduce electricity consumption in our daily operations.
Telephone and Video Conferencing
At GNS, we actively work to reduce our climate impact. According to our travel policy, employees are always questioned about the necessity of a trip. We see both practical and environmental benefits in using telephone and video conferencing with suppliers, colleagues, and clients.
Recycling
Recycling Station
An important recycling function GNS employs is environmental sorting of old IT equipment. When equipment is replaced, the devices are completely wiped and then sold to another company.
GNS also has a small recycling station in the office for paper, bottles, and compost.
Gender Equality and Diversity
Gender Equality and Diversity Issues
GNS does not use any form of gender or ethnic quotas in the recruitment process. However, GNS actively works to achieve an even distribution of both men and women and to increase diversity in the workplace. We at GNS are convinced that diversity is the key to success.
Currently, there are 3 women and 4 men working here, with 4 having a different ethnic background than Swedish.
ISO Standards
GNS is in the process of implementing various ISO standards to streamline and secure our internal processes. ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 161 national standardization bodies. Through this membership, experts come together to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based market-relevant international standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges. Currently, GNS is working with four standards:
ISO 26000:2010 Guidance on Social Responsibility
ISO 26000 is an international standard with guidelines for social responsibility based on seven core principles that together define the concept of social responsibility. The standard describes what businesses and organizations can do to contribute to a sustainable future and development.
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standard
ISO 14000 is the collective name for the standards related to environmental management, which in turn create an environmental management system that can be easily integrated into existing operations.
ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems – Requirements (ISO 9001:2015)
ISO 9001 is a management system standard for the quality processes within a company or organization.
SS 895400:2014 IT Sustainability Management System – Guidance
This standard provides guidance for organizations to implement a management system for sustainable IT, establish, document, implement, maintain, and continually improve the organization’s work on sustainable IT. The standard focuses on the environmental impact within all areas where IT can be used effectively to reduce this impact. It also focuses on IT’s own environmental impact and how it can be limited.
